Mr. Van is the founder of Vietnam Backroads and a passionate pioneer in cycling tourism. Since 2008, he has dedicated himself to exploring Vietnam and developing unique cycling routes that take travelers far beyond the country’s traditional tourist trails. During the annual low season, Mr. Van personally conducts inspection and route-scouting trips, often traveling by motorcycle to explore new areas and carefully assess potential cycling routes.
These journeys take him along quiet country lanes and hidden backroads, through remote villages, rice fields, mountain landscapes, river valleys, and rural communities that reveal the authentic beauty and character of Vietnam. With years of hands-on experience and an in-depth knowledge of Vietnam’s diverse regions, Mr. Van turns these discoveries into thoughtfully designed cycling adventures. Each itinerary is carefully planned with distance, terrain, road conditions, scenery, local experiences, and accessibility in mind, ensuring that routes can be adapted to suit cyclists of different ages, interests, and skill levels.
His philosophy is simple: the best way to experience the Vietnam is not only to visit its famous destinations, but also to venture into the countryside, meet local people, discover places rarely seen by ordinary travelers, and experience the true rhythm of Vietnamese life from the saddle.
