Day 1: Saigon – Xeo Quyt forest - Cao Lanh
After you are met and picked up at your accommodation in HCMC, then an hour A/C van driving you to Long An province. On your first day cycle, beautiful ride will start in Tan An’ Xeo Quyt forestrural village. We start cycling along country paths going through villages, rice paddies, corn farms and vegetable to My Tho. On your riding, there will be many stops at local markets to enjoy fresh fruits and cold drinks. The morning cycle is about 25km. After lunch, you take a nap when vehicle taking you to small rural village by the river for the afternoon bicycle ride. There are beautiful country paths along villages and rivers to Xeo Quyt. You’ll find yourself on quiet country back roads and tracks skirting the edges of winding creeks and fields of rice, observing the activity at markets alongside canals, and discovering local lives and enjoying scenery all the way to Xeo Quyt forest. It was the heart of the Viet Cong resistance to the U.S. We’ll need to take ferries to get to the area of the former Xeo Quyt base, which lies under the canopy of a huge cajuput forest. From there a former Viet Cong soldier who was stationed there will take us by rowboat to see the actual base and its small tunnel network, and relate the story of his and his comrades’ time there as we consider the sacrifices made. If time permitted we continue our ride on country back road to Urban Dist before a transfer taking us to hotel.

Day 2: Cao Lanh - Sadec – Saigon
After breakfast, we check out for Sadec town. Our adventure ride starts from hotel, through bucolic countryside; brick mills, mud fish farms, thatch houses. The quiet countryside rice paddy in Dong Thapcharm and scenic opportunities for you to discover scenic beautiful area on back road. Then a ferry ride across the Mekong to further side, and then we continue our ride through plantation after plantation of ornamental flowers, to Sa Dec, one of the last remnants of old Indochina in Viet Nam, still displaying it’s French architectural heritage in French-built villas along the canal. There’s a really old Chinese temple there too, if that’s your thing, and some amazing brick kilns (really!). We’ll have lunch here before heading off through more wonderfully scenic countryside; see flower growers tending their gardens, with more rice fields. After lunch at Huynh Thuy Le house, we could spend time to explore local markets by river on foot before we return to Saigon by vehicles. Tour End!

Thank you so much for our excellent trip. We really had a great time. Viet was an excellent guide and ensured that the route we took was suitable and fun for all of us. The food was fantastic throughout the whole trip and we enjoyed the environment that we cycled through. Viet also made us a video reminder of our trip, which was a really nice touch. Also, when we were transferring between cycling locations in the van, we felt very comfortable as there was so much room and safe as the driver was excellent. I asked the girls and we couldn’t think of anything negative to say at all. We enjoyed the whole trip immensely and will be sure to recommend it to our friends. I wish we did a longer tour, I had so much fun. They were both great and friendly but Viet was such a great guide and also great company. The bikes were perfect quality, the rides were doable for the youngest but not too tame for me and mum, there were also activities in between that we interesting and fun as well , the food along the way was delicious (my sister and I are both vegetarian so we all ate vego the whole time and there was way too much (amazing) food each time.) Accommodation wasn’t amazing but all your doing is sleeping then you’re off again so it wasn’t a big deal. All in all, awesome trip, best way to see the Mekong Delta, can’t rave about it enough! 29 - 30 Mar, 2018
