Mekong Delta Cycling Tours. Throughout this bicycle tour, you will be biking on narrow lanes to Xeo Quyt base and Tam Nong, the biggest stork sanctuary in Dong Thap. Tram Chim National Park is located 19 km to the east of the Mekong River, at an elevation of about 1 m. The topography of the national park is flat, sloping slightly to the East. In the past, several natural streams and rivers flowed from west to east, distributing water from the Mekong River to the plain of reeds. Now, these streams and rivers have been replaced by a system of canals flowing through the national park. Vietnam Bike Tours

Pick up at your hotel and transfer for two hours to Tien Giang province. Start biking from Cai Be to Cao Lanh city, ride on a single track trail and cross a network of irrigation canals which the French built before 1950. Then we cycle about 30 km to Xeo Quyt base, where a guide will show you the tunnel where former Viet Cong soldiers lived and fought the US army. Lunch will be served at the base. Tram Chim is an eco-tourist area known as a “green island” with a typical natural landscape of the submerged region of Dong Thap Muoi. The park is home to many botanical species and nearly 200 species of water birds which account for about a quarter of the birds in Vietnam. In 1985, Tram Chim was established by the provincial government as Tram Chim Afforestation and Fishery Company, which aimed at planting the myrtaceous tree (Melaleuca leucadendra) to harvest cajuput oil, and the preservation of aquatic resources in the Dong Thap Muoi area. In 1986, the Sarus cranes were found here. In 1991, Tram Chim became provincial-level Natural Reserve to protect the Sarus crane. In 1994, by government delcaration, the reserve became a national nature reserve by the decision. This area has become Tram Chim National Park by the governmental decision 253/1998/QÄ dated December 29 1998.
