Hello valued guests!
Vietnam BackRoads organizes cycling holidays and unique bicycle tours. Why us? We providing extra value to your holiday by paying extra attention to cultural, historic, and scenic aspects of each tour. We will share with you ancient cultures, modern history and spectacular scenery from each different region and each country in Indochina.
Cycling route:
Each cycling route is has to be meticulously researched, investigated and scouted out beforehand by Van (Van the Man, our founder and the owner). All of our guides are well trained in bike maintenance and navigation. We can tailor make a custom route which is suitable to your cycling ability. You do not have to ride the exact kilometers which are indicated on the tour itinerary. It must be flexible as you want. You could spend more time on cycling if you think the biking distance is too short for you to ride, or you can enjoy biking in a short distance. Bicycle trips by Vietnam BackRoads will take you on a variety of roads, such as trails, paths, rural roads and country roads where cars cannot access Video Clips. Some roads will have cars, some will not, depending on the specific route and terrain of your tour.
♦ We are sure that you cannot find these cycling routes on any official map (even google maps!)

On the roads:
♦ Our tours are great for people who love to stay overnight in local countryside houses, or spend the night in a small town where westerners are rarely seen.
♦ When you tour Vietnam by bicycle, you will see how people make their living in countryside villages and traditional rural areas: animal husbandry, rice farming, fishing and gardening.
♦ Our tours provide an excellent opportunity to exchange your culture with locals. Instead of cramming you into a large air-conditioned bus, our tours provide direct face-to-face contact with the local community, where you can meet and talk to extremely friendly people. Not sure about the language barrier? No problem, many of our travelers do just fine using body language to communicate with locals whom they meet along the way!
♦ Those who travel by bus, can only understand on a very abstract level what the tour guides are talking about, and will never truly understand the history, culture, and ordinary everyday life of locals. Morever, most bus tours will take you to the same old tired touristy destinations

Dinner:
Many other tour companies will provide dinner as part of your package. Dinners are not be covered on your bicycle tours by Vietnam BackRoads except if you stay overnight in the countryside. Why is this? Simply, we do not want to limit your choices to the same mundane thing each day. Here are the reasons that Vietnam BackRoads will sometime cover your dinner and will sometimes not cover dinner on bike trips:
♦ Where your dinner included ! When you stay the night in the countryside, (local houses or home-stay) where there are not any cafes, restaurants or entertainment for you to enjoy, then Vietnam BackRoads will arrange dinner and special local dishes, as a family dinner for you.
♦ where your dinner is not included ! For example, during your bicycle trips, everyday you will have breakfast at the hotel and lunch or picnic lunch with the tour group on the roads, then continue cycling until the end of the day. If you dine with your group and the tour guide, you would have no free time to explore the town where you are staying. All of your days would be the same! At the very least, you need to have a free evening to explore the small town and find your own eating opportunities, for as long as you want. During the day, our bike guides will talk plenty about history, culture, local lifestyles, etc. Therefore, in the evening you will have your own personal opportunity to understand the locals enjoying some free time by yourself.
Backup services:
Minivans, buses, and trucks as backup services are on hand. These backup vehicles are always a phone-call away. There are many country roads, rural trails and paths which connect to the high roads, therefore our backup services are always on standby. If your bike needs repair we have support vans, or if you get tired, you have the option to ride on an A/C minivan or bus. The rest of the bikers will continue riding.
Pricing:
Tour prices vary based on the type of tour and on peak season vs. low season. Prices also depend on the number of travelers, for both non-cycling tours and cycling tours. Off season is from the end of April to the end of Septemper. High season is from the beging of October to the end of April. Peak season prices are higher. Off-season prices are lower. If you want to save money, then we recommend booking in the off-season.
Booking in advance:
Booking your vacation in advance is the best way to save money. For example, if you book in advance by 4 months, the price will be discounted. It is also a good idea to book your holiday before the peak season arrives. The best hotels, resorts, flight tickets, restaurants, etc will fill up quickly during the peak season, so the sooner you book your trip, the better, to insure that you get your top pick of services.
